Katie Harvey is an emerging Australian multi-disciplinary artist based in Eora/Sydney, originally from regional NSW. She completed her Honours in Fine Art from RMIT Melbourne in 2019, and studied abroad at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017.  She is currently pursuing her Masters of Therapeutic Arts Practice at MIECAT, expected to be completed in late 2024.  This academic journey further enriches her artistic practice, exploring the intersection of art and psychotherapy. Her evolving understanding of therapeutic arts fosters a deeper connection between artistic expression and emotional well-being.

Katie’s compositions feature color field paintings that incorporate landscapes, architectural motifs, grids, and gestural figurations, inviting viewers to contemplate perception and delve into explorations of sensuous registration and the psyche. There is a dynamic tension between the unpredictability and spontaneous nature of movement and gestures in her work, balanced by a desire for refinement through structural processes she describes as somewhat mathematical.
